I think we can safely assume that desktop developers do not share that attitude. Some are certainly working towards a more long term goal, but in general a lot of how things are implemented suggest that they make customization as easy as possible, making it easy for others to either scratch their itch or find someone with a similar goal who is scratching theirs :) > anyway) developers do stuff not only for them.
