*NMDC* reported a substantial rise in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2008 due to strong sales volume and good operating margins.
During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 47.17% to Rs 14,249.50 million from Rs 9,682.20 million in the same quarter last year. Net sales for the quarter surged 44.14% to Rs 23,402.00 million, while total income for the quarter jumped 42.74% to Rs 25,666.80 million, when compared with the prior year period.
