WWF Western Melanesia, Conservation Director 

The WMP Conservation
Director leads the effective implementation, management, monitoring and 
evaluation
of the WMP Conservation Programme. The position will be based in the
WMP’s main office in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.  

Key qualifications for the position are: 

    * Advanced degree in Conservation
Biology, or natural resource/environmen t-related field with a strong experience
in terrestrial and marine ecosystems. 

    * At least 10 years conservation field experience,
preferably with at least 5 years in the Pacific. 

    * At least 5 years experience of working with large
bilateral and multilateral donor funded projects, including strong experience
of designing and writing project proposals and securing funding for large
programmes 

    * Experience in working closely with government and private
sector partners on policy and advocacy issues 

    * Experience in developing partnerships with local NGOs and
communities including a strong capacity building component 

    * Excellent leadership, interpersonal, networking and
lobbying skills 

    * Good planning and organizational skills, including
strategic planning and project management 

    * Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Tok
Pisin would be a plus.
