Background

The

policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing
emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community
for action. The position is located in the United Nations Environment Programme
(UNEP), Division of Global Environment Facility (DGEF) at the Nairobi duty
station. UNEP is one of three implementing agencies of the Global Environment

the agreed incremental costs of measures designed to achieve global
environmental benefits in six focal areas: biological diversity, climate
change, international waters, ozone layer depletion, land degradation and
persistent organic pollutants (POPs).

Under
the overall guidance of the Chief, Evaluation Office and in close cooperation
with the Deputy Director of the Division of Global Environment Facility

     commentary” for each evaluation at draft and final stages;
 Ensure that evaluation
     recommendations in particular mid-term evaluation recommendations are
     communicated to the relevant officers for implementation, with suggestions
     for preparing an Implementation Plan and follow-up action for future
     programming;
 Provide informal advice on
     project proposals and work with the Monitoring Officer and Deputy
     Director, DGEF to ensure that all UNEP/GEF activities include a fully
     budgeted Monitoring and Evaluation Plan;
 In consultation with the
     Deputy Director DGEF and relevant GEF project Task Managers, assist in
     preparing UNEP’s inputs to GEF Annual Performance Review;
 Assist in preparing
     half-yearly progress reports of activities of the Evaluation Office;
 Keep under review the
     implementation of UNEP/GEF activities at risk;
