Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value

The Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value, will provide financial support
of up to CHF 500,000 (USD 461,000) to individuals, NGOs, or small enterprises
offering innovative solutions to nutritional deficiencies, access to clean
water, or progress in rural development. Nestlé will award the prize every two
years.

Nestlé believes that developing countries face under-investment in key
social sectors, and that rewarding truly significant and innovative efforts to
meet the global challenges of access to clean water, advancement in rural
development, and improvements in nutrition can create shared value for us all.

To effectively incentivise such innovation, an award should target projects
and programs that have proved their worth on a pilot or small-scale basis, are
feasible on a broad scale basis, built on a sound business model, and offer
high promise of improving nutrition, advancing rural development, or having
significant impact on water management or access to clean water.

The Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value will recognise local efforts to
practice the Creating Shared Value principle and will be awarded to an
individual, NGO, or small enterprise which has demonstrated innovative
techniques for improving access to and management of water, improving the lives
of farmers and rural communities, or delivers high nutritional value to
populations suffering from nutritional deficits.

Entrants in the Nestlé Prize in Creating Shared Value competition, which
will be organised every other year, are encouraged and welcomed from wide and
varied backgrounds from around the world. Nestlé will commit to the
prize-winner an investment of up to CHF 500,000 (461,000 USD) for a specified
period of time, to assist in the development and scale-up of the innovation.
The value of the prize purse may vary depending on market, market conditions,
and the scale and scope of the winning entry. The value and terms of the Award
will be at the discretion of the Nestlé Chairman and CEO upon the
recommendation of the Creating Shared Value Advisory Board.

The Nestlé Creating Shared Value Advisory Board will select the prize-winner
from a worldwide pool of nominations starting in April 2010.
