If you really really dislike the prefix I can look for ways to avoid it,

I believe a much quicker and easy solution is to have martin trim off
the prefix in java in this particular geoexpansion query.
What about the existing syntax that you have also broken?
A change like this, essentially an API change, in sesat must be scheduled
for 2.18.
It's not that i dislike the change rather that you cannot break existing
APIs like this in a stable branch (2.17). This format of the query was
expected in AbstractSimpleFastSearchCommand.collectRelevantQueries(..)
long before the geoexpansion work that martin has started on.
On a sidenote since the index can be fast rigg can be flexible the format
expected in the search command should also be. I'll try and take this
into consideration for SKER2149.

I've created SKER4771 http://sesat.no/scarab/issues/id/SKER4771 to have
the format reverted.
