There are no errors in the logs, the mouse cursor just does not move at all & clicks are not registered. From dmesg the touchpad is identified as: psmouse serio1: synaptics: Touchpad model: 1, fw: 8.2, id: 0x1e2b1, caps: 0xf002a3/0x940300/0x12e800/0x400000, board id: 3289, fw id: 2492434 rmi4_f01 rmi4-00.fn01: found RMI device, manufacturer: Synaptics, product: TM3289-002, fw id: 2492434 The trackpoint: psmouse serio2: trackpoint: Elan TrackPoint firmware: 0x04, buttons: 3/3 Found on Linux Mint 18.2 - which uses the Ubuntu 16.04 repo for this package.
