Interesting. For that you can add 'dis_ucode_ldr' in GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub. Then run 'sudo update-grub', and confirm the change with 'grep dis_ucode_ldr /boot/grub/grub.cfg'. You should see non-recovery lines w/ that option as well.
Could you please upload /proc/cpuinfo with the 4.15 kernel (without that option), and 5.4 kernel (with that option, of course)? For example, $ cat /proc/cpuinfo > cpuinfo-4.15 # similarly for 5.4 when booted. Also, please provide the output of: $ dpkg -s intel-microcode | grep Version Thanks, Mauricio -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1895458 Title: Computer freezes on kernel 5, works on kernel 4 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The computer works with kernel Ubuntu 4.15.0-112.113-generic 4.15.18.
