i did a repository a month ago for kicad on github. but i wasn't sure if it was a good idea... i did it after seeing a post on hackaday about this github:
http://github.com/jkantarek/Eagle-Libraries but maybe a better way would be to use the svn of kicad? then people who build kicad from source will get "all" the module and footprint from the svn. pat
