Duration: These positions could be from three months up to 1+ years Pay rate: must be all-inclusive, best/lowest rates will get first consideration Data Warehouse Architect . Analyzes business or scientific system specifications . Interface with users/customers to determine scope, business objectives and system requirements . Develops technical specifications and the technical system design o Establish and design technical framework for system o Design System components including user interfaces o Able to integrate ideas and concepts into architectural designs for complex systems o Define operational requirements including scheduling, capacity planning, and resource requirements o Define test environment including development of test cases o Work with customers/users to compile data dictionary for the design being implemented o May oversee the technical design of the system . Builds and tests the application software and integrations and implements it for use o Design data conversion requirements o May generate executable code based on accepted industry and TVA programming o May unit test executable code o May perform integration testing of executable code o Implement robust error handling and data quality processes o Develop operational procedures o Follows change control procedures and quality assurance standards o May oversee the building and testing of the proposed system . Responsible for System testing o Verification that the system meets all business requirements o Verify all components of the system and interfacing systems work together as designed o Verify system will handle volume expected when placed in production o Conduct data validation sessions with the customers to verify system results o Perform system testing and document all results o Receive approval from user that system is ready for production . Strong analysis and problem solving skills . Recommend solutions after evaluating alternatives, providing cost benefits for each alternative . Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required . Plans and executes work with minimal supervision . Development of schedules to ensure on-time delivery of solution . Demonstrated project management skills . Performs as staff advisor and consultant on Data Warehousing (and potentially Informatica) tools . Experience managing technology projects . Lead development efforts for medium to large sized systems . Document the proposed solution which includes a definition of the user interfaces, functional processes, and data within the proposed system . May be asked to provide on-call and after hours support for production applications as needed . Work weeks will consist of 40-45 hour weeks and may require additional hours as necessary to meet project deliverables and deadlines . Travel may be required to carry out project work . 5+ years experience working with Oracle databases . 5+ years experience working with integrated Enterprise Data Warehouses . 5+ years experience performing large scale data modeling efforts with both logical and physical models . 3+ years experience architecting integrated Enterprise Data Warehouses (using star schemas); 5+ years preferred . 3+ years experience reading, writing, and tuning SQL . 3+ years experience with views, materialized views, and aggregations . 2+ years working as a developer . >1 year experience designing models in ERWin . Experience working with various layers to and Enterprise Data Warehouse including, but not limited to Staging, Operational Data Store, and Foundation Data Warehouse . Experience writing ETL to load data into integrated Enterprise Data Warehouses . Experience writing ETL to load and integrate with star schemas . Experience working with relational database structures . Experience working in and designing for Business Intelligence solutions . Experience developing in PL/SQL . Experience developing Oracle procedures and functions .
