Position Description:
Experience Level: 4 year degree in IT or related field and 8+ years related
experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Description:
- Leads the planning, analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, and
control of the organization's server-class databases.
- Consults with and advises senior management and multiple clients on high
impact data or database management issues, influencing strategic direction.
Handles and leads various large-scale or highly complex data/database
management activities including one or more of the following: designing
highly complex logical and/or physical databases;
leading highly complex data modeling, mapping, integration, and capacity
planning efforts; developing management policies, procedures and standards;
and business requirements identification, analysis and development.
- Provides mentoring, guidance and general oversight to less experienced
staff in a variety of database design, administration and or modeling
activities. Leads complex projects.
More than 7 years of practical Database Administration experience in a large
production support environment, preferably in Banking/Finance;
- Candidate should able to support routine production database support
functions such as checking for tablespace free space, checking for
fragmentation, checking for nightly/weekly backup status, checking
production databases for critical errors such as ORA-600, ORA-7445 error,
dead-locks, and creating SRs with Oracle tech support and following up with
them;
- Should be able to support on-call production DBA issues in multiple
shifts.
- Experience with handling Oracle RDBMS versions 10g, and 11g - including
migration/upgrade from lower Oracle versions.
- Experience with setup/tuning/maintenance of data replication using Oracle
10g/11g, Oracle Streams, and Oracle's Golden Gate replication tools in a
multi-master environment. - Experience with setup/tuning/maintenance of
physical standby databases using Data Guard replication.
- Experience with setup/tuning/maintenance of Oracle's Real Application
Clustering (RAC) with multiple nodes using Oracle 11g Experience with
setup/configuration/maintenance of DB backup solutions including hot backup,
RMAN, Shadow Image or BCV solutions; Experience with setup/maintenance of
OEM Grid Control to proactively monitor production databases. - Experience
with Capacity planning and growth forecast tools/scripts.
- Experience with performing basic Solaris System Administration tasks,
shell scripting. - Checking AWR reports to identify system/database
bottleneck areas, Perform wait event analysis/tuning, SQL query tuning;
Candidate should work closely with Architecture and Development DBAs to
resolve production database issues.
- SQL Server database administration experience is preferred, but not a
must.
