Fidel meets with Mandela in Johannesburg

Johannesburg, 3 Sept (AIN)--Commander in Chief Fidel Castro didn't want to
end his trip to South Africa, without first visiting in Johannesburg his
brother Nelson Mandela, Ex-President of this nation and Anti-apartheid
leader.

"It's a great moment for us to be here with Fidel, because what Fidel has
done for us is difficult to describe using words.," Mandela said. "During
the struggle against apartheid Fidel not hesitated in giving us all the
help, and now that we are free, we have many Cuban medical doctors working
here, helping us in rural areas, where there are practically no physicians,"
he continued.

A group of 400 Cuban medical doctors is providing internationalist health
care services to this nation for more than 5 years now, as part of the
global cooperation in health care backed by the government of Cuba.

"I have already had the opportunity of thanking Fidel for this support that
he is giving us, and I have promised him also, that's something that I have
to go to my office and see, but I want to go to Cuba before this year's
end," the South African leader stated.

Fidel affirmed that this was one of the most happy afternoons in his life,
because, he explained, "first I find my beloved brother better than ever,
and second, with the same enthusiasm that he had all his life, and third,
because soon he will be visiting us in Cuba."

Also, Fidel said, Mandela is fully active and informed about all the world's
problems, and very anxious to participate in the international conferences.

"These are more than enough reasons for feeling happy, privileged and
honored," Fidel reiterated.

A close embrace ended the moving meeting here between the two prestigious
personalities of world politics.
