KOL. 27 January 2002. Maoist kill civilian, injure another in Dhankuta.

KATHMANDU, Jan 27 - The Maoist insurgents have shot and killed a
civilian aligned to the ruling Nepali Congress Party in eastern Dhankuta
district. One other person was injured in the shooting.

According to our Dhankuta correspondent, the man, Dagal Sen Limbu, was
shot dead by the Maoists at Maunabudhuk VDC Saturday evening. According
to our correspondent, Limbu was first attacked by a group of about 25
Maoist at his home and then shot dead.

Similarly, Agni Prasad Baral, also an activist of the ruling Nepali
Congress was seriously wounded when Maoist shot him on his mouth
elsewhere in the district.

Security forces are reported to have been mobilised to apprehend the
culprits, our correspondent reported.

Meanwhile, Defence Ministry issuing a statement Sunday said security
forces had arrested one Maoist activist and seized 13 guns during search
operations at different places of the Kingdom in the past 24 hours.
Security forces are also said to have seized huge quantity of equipment
necessary for the manufacture of bombs along with explosive materials
during the same period.
