Heh. It all depends on perspective. Optimization is a process, and if it's relentless, you never, ever, let things get worse so they can get better. (Is it wise to pick at a scab in pursuit of perfect skin?) If, on the other hand, you've got the big picture, and you can leap from peak to peak, it looks simpler. I've been messing about with GAs too much lately.
