Yes, Fedora Core 2 is in "legacy" status, but that simply means that the Fedora project itself is not producing updates. That's what the Fedora Legacy project (http://fedoralegacy.org/) is for, and they are now fully maintaining security updates for FC2 as well as FC1, RedHat 9 and RedHat 7.3.

They're doing a great service for the RedHat/Fedora-using Linux community and should not be overlooked. Their work has kept a good number of my well-working RH9 boxes from being forced onto the upgrade treadmill.

Thanks. That's really good to know. I'll check into that. I have an FC1 and an FC2 box which should be updated. I'd rather do that right now then move them up to FC3. Especially the file server.

I'm currently on rh9. I wish to move up (even though I'm still on a slow ancient computer). Should I make the move straight to fc3? Or should I consider going for fc2?

I see no good reason to move to not move at least to FC3 now. I have found that FC3 supports USB storage better than FC2.

How long has fc3 been out? And how stable is it?

It's been out long enough that FC4 just went gold today. I plan to move to that on one of my boxes as soon as I can d/l the ISO's.
