People have been fighting over this for years. There are SEVERAL alternative
DNS systems out there already, mostly created by people who wanted to create
a TLD but couldn't or wouldn't get it approved by ICANN.

Yes, anyone can, anytime, but that still doesn't mean people have to listen,
and without their firewalls, obviuosly you could still just type in an IP
address.

People always liked prognosticating doom for effect, just to get people to
believe their points. Doesn't really worry me. Obviously, corrupt repressive
governements don't like the internet and will try to curtail it's use and
freedom, but I still have never seen a haker/crack/mistake proof piece of
software, firewall, antivirus program, or repressive government. If it's
there....people will break free.
