Provides leadership for capacity monitoring and system performance management, to include diagnostic services, fault-resolution strategy, and the development and presentation of metrics. Recommends, plans, budgets, and implements system enhancements in a cost-effective way. Supervises the construction and maintenance of an inventory of all data center assets to include hardware and installed software; ensures that appropriate items are covered by maintenance agreements. Tracks vendor performance against commitments; recommends changes to maintenance arrangements as required. Develops and maintains data center security measures, to include capabilities such as intrusion detection, desktop and server anti-virus software, system integrity checking, patch management, and configuration control while maintaining system availability. Develops documentation required to provide traceable, repeatable processes associated with system changes and updates. Qualifications: Minimum of five years experience in a high-performance data center with direct support responsibilities. 24x7 operations experience required. Experience with co-location facilities. Strong working knowledge of TC/IP protocols and network stacks, both at a functional and diagnostic level. Detailed knowledge of both desktop and server operating systems, WINS, DNS, DHCP, middleware, database drivers, print services, electronic fax services, software inventory and distribution, remote access and security. Also proven experience with SNMP, Cisco routers, Ethernet switching technologies, protocol analyzers (sniffers), data backup strategies, system high-availability solutions, and data warehousing architectures. Platform experience with HP Proliant x86 server architecture/storage solutions. Strong knowledge of and/or experience with Internet and Intranet Web-based architecture and services.
