Having slept on it, I'm sure this is the answer. And it's not even Apple's popularity as a whole. It's that statements about the *iPhone* get mindshare and press. Articles about the environmental impact of an 18-month old iPod model, or of HP's line of 'nx' notebooks don't get many people worked up, even though I suspect both are bigger actual targets.

So Greenpeace went for it, and CRN and Randall fell for it. Which brings me to the next question that came to me during my sleep - why the hell is this on the KPLUG list?
