I also use Amazon S3 for backup and I heartily endorse the service. It is cheap and easy. You can pre-encrypt the volumes that you upload if you wish and you can also do backups to another device or service. I backup to Amazon AND to local external USB disks. Amazon is my off-site and the USB disks stay in the same room with the computer it is backing up, just not attached. So if my house burns down in a wildfire (inconceivable! ;) I still have a copy of it all on S3.

Using it for a PC backup system is a great idea. Especially since most people don't even do one level of backup.
