Thanks to both of you who suggested it. I'm going to have to check out the size, but it is the type of thing I'm looking for. Laptops are just too big to lug around, they tire my arms out or I need to carry a giant backpack around. Most smart phones/pdas are too tiny to use easily, and too locked down. Besides, if you actually want to do more than web surfing, you need a keyboard. I'm going to try and hunt down this and an n810 and try them both out. I like the fact that the n810 is even smaller, but its lacks a lot of power and has no master USB ports. Plus it may be too small to be usable (a 5 inch wide keyboard seems small). So long as the eee pc is convenient to carry, I'll probably be going with it.
