If you visit the manufacturer's web site <http://eeepc.asus.com/en/product.htm> you will find that there are four versions. The first one released was the $399 model. Apparently the next one is the reduced battery version. The other two models have either twice the memory and standard battery, or half the memory and reduced battery. Prices not announced yet.
