I agree. Smokers stink to the point of nausea. I've never smoked,
and I have no compassion for smokers per se. But thinking about it
now, I just realized something... I work at a health insurance
company. My employer is not legally permitted to make non-smoking a
requirement for employment (*ahem*), but they do have this policy that
you can't perform the act of smoking within so many yards of company
property. Since we're located downtown that leaves not a whole lot of
room to smoke. People who do still smoke at work have to go into an
alley, literally. There are three or four in my department who smoke,
and one or two others who go out with them.

Now here's the funny realization: I haven't smelled them. They go out
to smoke and then come back in and I don't remember ever smelling
smoke, and I'm sensitive to that kind of thing. I'm not putting this
out as argument (at the moment), it just occurred to me. I wonder why
I haven't smelled them?...

That's correct. Mike posted his job opening and I replied just as I
did this time. I don't think those two requirements are appropriate,
and for the license thing I think it's even silly. He doesn't even
care about your driving record (like most driving-job employers do),
just that your license to drive is issued by California. Simply
saying "legal to drive" would cover what he's really looking for.
