You can also make FLACs, you can burn them as an audio cd or Amarok will
play them also.  The only reason I use both FLAC and MP3 is that my Zen
won't recognize FLAC.

Most DVD players will play mp3s and other formats as well as regular audio.
99% of my music playing equipment plays mp3s, it's a requirement for me.  I
wish more consumer electronics would play OGG and FLAC.
