I recently had to get a unit for dd-wrt and since Cisco screwed up
Linksys I have been using the Buffalo wireless rouers...

And now it looks like when you buy one of the Buffalo units you get the
"enhanced" paid version of dd-wrt included.

Notice Regarding Injunction
Regrettably, the Court of Appeals has decided not to stay the injunction
in the CSIRO v. Buffalo et al litigation during the appeal period.
Although Buffalo is confident that the final decision in the appeal will
be favorable and that the injunction will be lifted, Buffalo is
presently unable to supply wireless LAN equipment compliant with IEEE
802.11a and 802.11g standards in the United States until that decision
is issued. Click here for additional information.

I had not seen this and I haven't bought one of these units since my 3rd
one...
I did a search and found this...
The recent decision in /CSIRO v. Buffalo Technology, Inc. /just might
have been the trump card traditional patent trolls could use to visit
the permanent injunction promised land. 2007 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 43832
(E.D. Tex. Jun. 15, 2007). Unfortunately for the trolls, however, the
impact of this decision will not be as far-reaching and applicable to
their business models as they might hope.

So at first I was thinking where are M$ fingerprints in this... But they
are being sued as well as Intel and others:
http://www.patentlyo.com/patent/2007/06/nonpracticing-e.html
"Intel, Microsoft, Apple Computer Inc., Dell Inc., Hewlett- Packard Co.
and Netgear Inc. want a judge to rule either that the patent, issued in
1996, doesn't cover any aspect of the standard or that the patent is
invalid."
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601081&sid=adIQUdhKSqfU&refer=australia
Hmmm... I had not heard of this case and it appears to be a very big
deal in that the patent claimant has waited a good deal of time to let
its patent get into use and then go after the deep pockets with perhaps
Buffalo being the littlest fish to set a precedent against the real
money at Intel and Microsoft.
Too bad for Buffalo... Their units are really good.
