Um, actually I would expect than anyone doing development on Linux did get that lesson on a daily basis (Windoze, anyone?).

That fact that the Linux development community is now happy to assume things like "All the Linux are RedHat" simply demonstrates that programmer crappiness is not confined to Windows.
