I'm going to have to do a lot of CAT 6 cabling between labs, and from cabinets in each lab to central two-post racks. Wish I could just call in a contractor, but... since I have to do this myself, I need recommendations for really good strippers that will nicely and easily pull off the appropriate amount of outer cladding without damaging the tiny internal wires. There are a couple of really crappy strippers around here with dull blades (that probably got that way after too few jobs).
I purchased some CAT-6 cable and connectors and thought I would try my hand at making cables. I never managed to get a single cable that worked. CAT-6 is real picky about twisting and stuff like that. You really do have to maintain the twist right up to where it crimps in. I always ended up feeling like I was stuffing something huge into a tiny connector and hoping that the wires ended up in the right order. Eventually they did, but never really making connections right and such. David -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
