"Time Warner Cable said it will cease to offer customers access to any Usenet newsgroups, a decision that will affect customers nationwide. Sprint said it would no longer offer any of the tens of thousands of alt.* Usenet newsgroups. Verizon's plan is to eliminate some "fairly broad newsgroup areas."

This is really distrubing since usenet is universal newsgroup for the web. There is a very wide range of subjects and most is not sex related. Personally I prefer Google Groups. Google Groups has a fairly friendly interface plus you don't have to download all the messages to your machine. Awhile back Google acquired dejanews and you had to download newsgroups until Google wrote their own interface. I was really annoyed because deja already had a working gui..
