I just upgraded to latest Ubuntu and it wants my IBM Thinkpad to use hostap
wifi driver instead of the old orinoco wifi driver.
It seems to work for about 20min then die.
If there is no easy solution then how easy is it to force Linux/Ubuntu to use
good ol' trusty orinco wifi at every bootup?

As far as I know, hostap is a driver for...running a host access point.
It's not your typical wifi driver as is Orinoco.
Sure it doesn't mean instead Wpa_supplicant (by the same
maintainer/author as hostap)? Although Wpa_supplicant is not a driver
itself either, but is used with the driver (as in ...wpa_supplicant
-Wext...).
