The big problem with that is predicting the growth. If one knows that
explosive growth is possible, but not certain, then how does one know
how big a system to build?

And who will act as the system admin for this thing? At Amazon I can
expect a certain level of functionality as a given. If I colo I must
provide that functionality. That way, to my mind, lies madness. My
energies are not going to be devoted to providing a job for system
admins. I would rather someone competent, like say Amazon, or any of
another large employers of such folk, do that job.

Also I am not certain why I am supposed to care what other services,
bots and spammers, Amazon hosts. You might care to elaborate. You
might as well say, don't use the net, it is full of bots and spammers.
