How about a safe deposit box? (Sorry if someone's suggested it already, I
lost a few messages over the past couple days, before I could read them.)
I've never worked for a business that kept their backups on site and I
treat my own data the same way.
Online backup is another alternative (except for your small amount of
paper, of course.) A consultant buddy of mine swears by this place:
