Surprisingly, yes. Mostly it has to do with commercial support. If you need it, go somewhere else. If you want Oracle's support for their database, then you need SuSE or RedHat. Debian need not apply. If you know Red Hat, and want to use Red Hat, I would recommend Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora, White Box, or CentOS. If you want to try a LiveCD, I would recommend Knoppix or Ubuntu. If you are a ricer (or ricer wannabe) I'd be stuck with recommending Gentoo and therapy. If you are truly masochistic, I would recommend Linux From Scratch, or DIY linux.
