Can you get a browser connected to your linksys's web interface?
http://192.168.1.1
It may ask for a username & password.
If you don't have your linksys manual around, you might try
admin and password
or you might have to ask someone else who has a model like yours.
Once you get in there, find a WAN status page and see if the router has
an IP from your (RR, I guess) ISP.
Maybe the router has to be told to "renew" it's WAN connection, or
perhaps it may need a power cycle to get a "clean start".
In the router's web interface, you may also want to look at which LAN
devices it thinks are "connected" -- it might be confused (somehow) by a
record of the IP your computer used to have before setting it to static.
You may even want to keep using dhcp, but use a "reserved" ip -- there's
probably a page allowing you to do that. Some routers require you to
assign an IP within the dhcp range, some seem not to care, and I suppose
some may require you to reserve an IP outside the dhcp range <sigh>.
The contents of your resolv.conf are probably ok, but that could stop
working if RR changed their nameservers. It would be more normal to have
your router (192.168.1.1) as the nameserver.

..jim
