Since no one has answered your post I thought I would give it a try. I am an old fart with no *expertise*. I simply like to muck around with linux and Kubuntu and have had some success. I have not used Mythtv in several years so I doubt I can help there.
i meant to list MythTV as my only Linux experience. That is wired and works great. However, my main computer is on wheels (i roll from room to room when i need it) (yes i could get laptop but wife uses taht, and i like to play WoW so need a bit mroe power than the laptop) so i need the wireless to work. As far as the wireless, could you post the relevant results of:
sudo lshw
I will do this and rest below when i get home in about 2 hours. the section under network should indicate that it found a wireless
device and the product will be listed. What info is under the product heading? I would do a google search for ubuntu +"wireless chip found by lshw". Chances are some else has gotten that working. Could you also post the results of : sudo ifconfig -a and sudo iwconfig In my case I had to install a ndiswrapper-common, ndisgtk and a windows driver for my wireless chip. I have no doubt you will be able to get ubuntu and mythtv working. http://parker1.co.uk/mythtv_ubuntu.php Hope this helps.
