I'm just going to post. This is the strangest thing. If I turn on roaming
mode, I can connect to the wireless network. This means i need to have my
router broadcast my ESSID. I usually just turn off broadcasting so no one
knows its even there. So i turn on roaming mode, and it pops up asking me
for the WEP key, and I can log in now. Don't know if i reboot, but we'll
see. So wierd that it won't work under manual configuration.

OK, wlan0 is up somehow and signal strength is good ! You had previously
configured the interface how ? Or did this come up automatically with
essid "ANY" and in uncertain mode ? What does sudo iwconfig wlan0 give
you ?

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo dhclient wlan0

Might run with the -d flag to keep in foreground for debugging.

sudo ifdown [eth0 or whatever wired interface]
sudo killall dhclient
sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid XXXXXXXXXHomeNetwork mode managed enc off
sudo dhclient -d wlan0

See what happens. Is the router configured to accept any ethernet
number for connections ? Max connections OK ? What kind of router do
you have ?
