Next interesting idea:  in Firefox:  File -> Page Setup -> Margins
lets you set left, right, top, bottom margins.

What if you set the left and right margins to (8.5 - 3.5)/2 = 2.5
inches.  Set the top margin to 0.25 in, and the bottom margin to (11.0
- 5.25) = 5.75 in.  If my calculations are right, this defines an area
that is a 3x5 card with 0.25 in. margins, pushed to the top of the
8.5x11 sheet and centered.

Then you can watch the results in File -> Print Preview
