Chris,

I use an HP 4919cl series in dual boot mode. Gus Wirth helped me with
my Ubuntu 7installation. I brought my laptop to an Installfest and the
KPLUG crowd was very helpful with the installation. The Broadcom
802.11g that was already installed on my HP does not work with Ubuntu,
so I use a Linksys DWL-650 PCIMA card. It is 802.11b, (5 MB/sec
maximum) but I still get very good download speeds. You might want to
use a CD-bootable version of Ubuntu on the laptop you plan on buying
if it already has Windows on it to check for any major hw
incompatibility.
