I've hacked together some servers for people out of parts just laying around. Anyways, to the question at hand. Intel wireless work very very very well in linux (In my experience anyways). My last laptop I ordered from dell had a special, get the wireless N card for Broadcomm, I said no and actually paid $20.00 more for the Intel Wireless G card. The drivers are proprietary (which some people don't like i guess, but i don't care, just like nvidia), but work very well. There is an Ubuntu forum/wiki https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessCardsSupported that lists cards by brand that are reported to be supported. If you click each makers link it will bring you to like a chart like "Works out of the box" row, which for newbie and Ubuntu would prolly be best. So what I would do head to your favorite computer website (mine is newegg.com) find the cheapest wireless card, head over to that wiki and see if it will work, if doesn't go up to next one. Also, btw every single device (that I know of right now) states under requirements: "Windows Vista/XP/2000, Mac" or some variant, heck the new router I just bought said it requires Windows only, yea right. Basically it means they only support it if it's installed with windows boxes or what have you (correct me if i'm wrong with that though). > > ____________________________________________________________ > Click here to double your salary by becoming a medical transcriber. > > http://thirdpartyoffers.netzero.net/TGL2241/fc/Ioyw6i4uAmSxP7CIDoFQxT3rusSDwALqeCAZb6rOFz0ce2FDz2ry8m/ > > -- > [email protected] > http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-newbie > -- Sincerely, MacNean C.
