I've never been able to run linux from a USB. I have no trouble downloading a distro to a USB. I can open the USB and see that it is there. When booting I can get the computer to load from the USB. But nothing happens - absolutely nothing. Is this something that could be done at an installfest?
I've done this, following a howto on the Internet, but it was a while ago. I remember creating two partitions on the USB drive. The first was a small boot partition containing grub and a kernel. The second contained the meat of the distribution, much how a regular installation is set up.
You might try this tutorial. It looks like something similar to what I used. http://lifehacker.com/245087/how-to-install-ubuntu-linux-on-a-flash-drive Karl -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-newbie
