Those do seem a bit complicated. Mine are top mounted http://myplace.frontier.com/~flesner/brakes1.jpg , very simple setup, no welding required, and they work great. RV pedals are top mounted also. I wouldn't have it any other way. Nothing on the floor to catch your heels. I can stretch out completely to the firewall in cruise by putting my feet between the pedals on each side.
