Tim asks- >Can anyone give me some insight in to adding flaps or a speed brake >to an existing stock fuselage with retracts?
Probably not telling you anything that isn't obvious, but the speed brake will be easier to add than flaps. The thing about the speed brake on a stock fuselage with retracts is that you're a bit limited on the size of the brake panel because the stock retracts don't put the belly very high off the ground. Now if you make it a rule to never deploy the speed brake on or near the ground, that isn't an issue, but that might limit its usefulness in killing float sometimes. It has sounded to me like the speed brake does more for you than flaps on the KR if you're looking to slow it down on approach. Mark Langford's (and others using split or Fowler flaps) might be an exception, but from what I've seen on the list, the stock design plain flaps aren't as effective as the speed brake at holding down the approach speed and helping get the airplane down. I think it has a bit more effect lowering the nose too.
