I am quite surprised at that mounting. Ours was bolted with four bolts on each bracket, through the gear spring. I would think, that over time, that installation will loosen up considerably and cause serious problems. The installation is very nice looking, especially the wheel pants. If you don't want to submerge the spring bar, you can put holes to expose the brackets and fair in the bar, leaving the bolts visible for inspection. N64KR Daniel R.
