I echo what Jim says about KR attendance at OSH. I think it's due to a number of factors rather than just a single one, such as Herb's accident. As far as the accident, I think I remember that the weather was pretty hot that day and there was quite a long line of airplanes and a long wait for guys to get in the air. I remember seeing Herb and a couple others standing outside next to their planes on the taxi way. So, it's possible that he was not feeling very well at the time.
Also, it's been said that many KR builders are pretty hard working individuals and it may be difficult for some to take off work to attend. Like the Pietenpol clan and other type fly-ins, the KR group really enjoy their own gathering - many, even more than Oshkosh. It's often a matter of choice. Let's all hope for good weather. This Gathering at Mt. Vernon should be a fun one, for sure.
