The only way you can use that engine (within reason) is if you go the 3100cc
"big boy" with VW 94 mm pistons and cylinders, since that operation requires
opening up the case and heads anyway.  Mine is a 64, but it's bored to
3100cc so it was not a factor.   As a general rule you want to use a '65 or
later 110 or 95hp engine, per the web site Mark Jones posted.  There's more

, but I wouldn't recommend it to anybody who's not a serious motorhead
devoted to checking every detail of assembly, since so many variables get
changed in the machining process.
