Jeff,
     I had the same problem and it's easy to solve.  Remove the plug, drill 
a 3/8th hole through the center of it then have a 3/8th metal tube welded to 
the bottom side.  When you want to drain oil just use a plastic tube with a 
3/8th ID to slid over the metal tube and drain into a container.
