Randy
I'm building a KR2.
I have flown in a Kr2s and found it to be a very enjoyable plane to fly.
Building
This is my first plane, I have basic woodworking stills but like you have
Auto mechanics back, I have been building & flying All sized Radio control
aircraft for many years.
The KR net is a very good place to help you out, Mark Langford , Mark Jones
, Dan Heath, to name but a few would have to be the most helpful guys
around,

You do not have to spend a lot of money in one go, Order the spruce and
timber kits from one of many places and this will keep you & your wife very
busy for some time, while you save and decide on Engine, instrument,
undercarriage etc.

Good luck with your plans, and do not hesitate to ask for help.
The Plans are very disappointing to someone like me with no aircraft
building experience, but the KR net made up for that.

Good luk, keep us posted to your progress.
