I thought that it attached to brackets, attached to the main spar, inside
the fuselage. I had 3 of them.  You used to put on a plywood re-enforcement
on the front of the spar, drill new holes, and install the brackets so they
protruded through the bottom of the fuse.  Then you installed the gear,
added foam and glass to fair in that area.  That was all there was to it.
