And you will never find a better person to deal with than Ed Sterba. No one
else is going to repitch and refinish your prop for free if you want to
change it.

Did you try a Sterba? Sterba sells props for around $400 (I believe it is)
for the KR, and they work well. Sensenich sells their KR prop for about
$750 or so. They are similar in performance, from my experience. My 54x54
Sensenich is more of a climb prop, so I can turn it up to about 3650 rpm at
low altitude WOT, but get about the same speed out of it as my Sterba at
3300 rpm under similar conditions, but slightly less climb performance.
That's a classic "climb vs cruise" prop compromise, so at this point I can
only surmise that a Sterba prop is a better deal for my purposes (given the
price), and I do like the idea of going the same speed but turning 350 rpm
less. I would think that lower rpm would be better on the engine, and if I
get the same speed out of it, I'd call it good. I have to throw in that a
guy at Sensenich once told me that "a Sterba prop is hard to beat".

By the way, the one thing I'd change about the recent Sport Aviation article
is the comment about the Sterba vs the Sensenich performance. I don't know
where that came from, but I'm pretty sure I ever said that my Sensenich was
13 mph faster than my Sterba. Even if you picked up those two data points
from two different places, there would have to be a lot of different factors
involved to keep them from being very similar in performance. I didn't
write or influence that article in any way, and never got a shot at
proofreading it...or it wouldn't have said that in the end...
