It is wider than you will need for a side by side seating arangement. If you want your frame wider, use foam and fibreglass. The canopy does not have to span the whole width of the fuselage, just as far as you need it too. You could have a five foot wide fuse, and a three foot wide canopy or what ever you want. My Dragonfly canopy is 38" wide but would go to 42" easily.
