Dan,

It's really easy.  Spend millions of dollars screwing
around with the FAA and the bureaucracy and sell 10
engines a year and go broke..

I believe the other comment was IF you had a
CERITIFIED engine in your experimental and WANTED to
KEEP it certified, then you had to meet all the FARs
and ADs that came out on that engine.

Other choice is to call your Corvair a Continental!! 
It must be FRIDAY!!
