I know when I went from a VW to an 0-200 I had to have the FAA come out and inspect the install. They consider that a major mod and all major mods have to be inspected. He gave me 5 hrs. This was the Fort Worth FAA. The FAA records still show the plane with a VW. I don't believe they ever change that. I have a 47 Bellanca that had an engine change from a Franklyn 165 to a lyc 0-360 back in 1976 and the records still show it with a Franklyn but the 337 shows the change.
